A late-night incident in Surrey involving gunfire between two vehicles is now under active investigation. Authorities responded after reports of shots being fired on Saturday evening, drawing police attention to a busy roadway area.
The event is believed to have occurred shortly after 9 p.m. near 105 Avenue and University Drive. Surrey Police Service (SPS) attended the location following multiple calls from the public reporting possible gunfire between moving vehicles. When officers arrived, both vehicles had already left the scene.
At the location, investigators located several spent shell casings, confirming that a firearm had been discharged during the incident. The discovery prompted a wider response from police units, as they worked to secure the area and collect initial evidence.
According to early descriptions, two sedans were involved: a black sedan and a white sedan. Both vehicles reportedly fled the area at high speed following the exchange. The white sedan was noted to possibly have visible damage to its driver-side windshield, which may assist investigators in identifying it.
Despite immediate checks in the surrounding neighbourhoods and roadways, officers were not able to locate either vehicle. At this stage, there have been no reports of injuries connected to the shooting.
The case has now been assigned to the Major Crime Section of SPS, which handles serious and complex incidents. Members of Integrated Forensic Identification Services are expected to assist with evidence processing and scene analysis in the area. Their work may include examining shell casings, reviewing trace evidence, and searching for any additional materials left behind.
Investigators are continuing to piece together the circumstances that led to the gunfire. The reason behind the incident has not yet been established, and no information has been released regarding possible suspects or motives.
Police are asking members of the public who may have been in the area at the time to come forward with any relevant information. In particular, anyone with dashcam footage from 105 Avenue, University Drive, or nearby routes around the time of the incident is encouraged to review their recordings.
Those with information are requested to contact the non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and reference file number 26-39710. Even small details, such as vehicle movement or unusual activity, may assist investigators in building a clearer timeline of events.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine what led to the exchange of gunfire and to locate the vehicles involved.
